Understanding DocuSign vs. Developer Sandbox
Marquette University has two different DocuSign environments: Production and Sandbox. DocuSign users who send documents use the Sandbox to build and test.
A DocuSign Sandbox is a Demo environment that allows you to develop and test your app in an environment that’s isolated from Production. It's also referred to as the Demo environment or a Demo account. Sandbox accounts operate in a DocuSign Demo environment, which is identical to Production except that documents sent through Demo are not legally binding and have test stamps on them. Sandbox accounts do not expire and have enterprise level features enabled by default that allow you to test all scenarios before going live to Production.
- This is the live environment where you can view, send, or manage e-signature documents.
-
Viewer Access Level: When you first log in, DocuSign automatically provides Viewer access permissions to view all documents sent to you.
-
Sender Access Level: If you need to manage and send documents or use templates, place a service request to change your access.
- The Marquette DocuSign Sandbox or Demo account is a developer account that is identical to the settings in the Marquette DocuSign Production Account.
- If you have a Sender Access Level account, you also gain access to the Demo environment (Sandbox).
- This is a testing environment that allows you to practice without worry. You can create templates and test workflows before moving them to Production to use live.
- IT Services recommends building and testing a new template in DocuSign Demo. Then download and put your templates in the Production environment.
- In the Demo environment, you have Dept PowerUser access level to practice and test what you are learning in the training videos.
