Using Stream
How do I upload videos to Stream on SharePoint?
- Sign in to Stream on SharePoint. If prompted, log in with your Marquette email address and password.
- Your Microsoft 365 Stream homepage appears. In the upper-left side of the webpage, click or tap the Upload tile.
- From your device, go to your video and select it for upload.
- Stream processes the video and then shows a Stream webpage with the video.
How do I add and edit video captions on Stream?
Closed captions give viewers a more accessible video experience. Follow these steps to have Stream create automatic captions for your video.
- Sign in to Stream on SharePoint. If prompted, log in with your Marquette email address and password.
- Your Microsoft 365 Stream homepage appears, listing your videos. Click or tap the video you want Stream to caption.
- The Stream webpage for your video loads. Select the Video Settings icon.
- The "Video Settings" panel appears. Under the "Transcript and captions" section, click or tap the Generate button.
- A language prompt appears. Select the spoken language and click or tap Generate.
- Stream creates captions from the audio track of your video.
Speech recognition isn't perfect. The auto-generated captions may contain mistakes for the video owner to correct. Consider reviewing best practices for captioning from the Described Caption and Media Program. To edit the captions, see "View, edit, and manage video transcripts and captions."
How do I share Stream on SharePoint videos?
- Sign in to Stream on SharePoint. If prompted, log in with your Marquette email address and password.
- Your Microsoft 365 Stream homepage appears, listing your videos. Click or tap the video you want to share.
- The Stream webpage for the video loads. In the upper right, click or tap the Share button and then select Share.
- A "Send link" prompt appears. Click or tap Anyone with the link can edit.
- The prompt changes to "Share settings." Modify the setting from "Anyone" to "People you choose."

Key step: Under "More Settings," change "Can edit" to "Can view."
- Click or tap Apply.
- In the "To:" field, type the names of persons, groups, and Teams sites you want to share the video with.
- Click or tap the Copy button.
- The prompt changes to "Link copied." You now have a link on your device's clipboard to share with specific persons, groups, and Teams.
- If you need to embed the video (e.g., in a D2L course site), click or tap the "x" icon to close the "Link copied" prompt. You return to the Stream webpage for the video. In the upper right, click or tap the Share button and then select Embed code. An embed prompt appears. Click or tap Copy Embed Code. You now have a video embed code on your device's clipboard.
Important: Only the persons, groups, and Teams sites with access can see the embedded video.
Click or tap the "x" icon to close the embed prompt.
- You return to the Stream webpage for the video. Share the link or embed code.
